Danville Bike and Footwear

Mark your calendars: On September 12th runners, walkers, cyclists and foodies will be treated to a unique, casual triathlon experience unlike no other whose simple mantra is:

Run
Bike
BBQ

(Disclaimer: These are all separate events that, for fun, we're linking into a casual triathlon. You can do one, two or all of the events listed!)

1. Run: The Constitution 5K Run for the Arts (8:00 am)
Whether you run, walk or skip, come enjoy Danville's oldest running tradition with the 37th Annual Running of the Constitution 5K - now in its 7th year as a fundraiser for the Community Arts Center. Due to public outcry, this run has been moved from its traditional (incredibly hot) Sunday afternoon race time to a new (and hopefully cooler) 8 am time but runners will still enjoy the same unique course that winds its way through Centre College's beautiful campus and scenic Downtown Danville.

2. Bike: The Smokin' Butt 24-Mile Bike Ride (10:00 am)
Wheel on down to Danville Bike and Footwear and take a leisurely ride out Bluegrass Pike, through historic Harrodsburg, then down the rolling hills of Bellows Mill and Buster Pike to arrive back in Danville. All paces are welcome and everyone will have people to ride with. The course will be marked, ride leaders will guide the way and a support vehicle will follow the ride, providing assistance and security for riders of all skill levels.

3. BBQ: The Kentucky State Barbecue Festival (All Weekend!)
The Kentucky State Barbecue Festival will be in full swing by the time riders glide back in to Downtown Danville. Festivities will kick off the night before and will run from 11 am to 10pm the day of the run and ride. After such a fun, active morning, kick-back and enjoy the sights, smells and sounds of Danville's flagship culinary festival with guest chefs from around the nation. We can't think of a better way to balance your caloric intake than a historic run, a scenic ride and a festival of food. It's fun for the whole family... and you've earned it!
